Campaign statement for Nigel Roberts

ELECT NIGEL ROBERTS TO THE ICANN NAMES COUNCIL!

Please give NIGEL ROBERTS your first preference to represent you on the Names Council.

Nigel Roberts has the vision, energy and drive to look after ccTLD interests in the coming 21st century of rapid change

He will be a member of a team of three who will represent your interests on the Names Council no matter which region or TLD group you belong to.

NIGEL ROBERTS will recognise and value the contribution which all members and TLDS make to the success of the constituency;

and will set out clear goals and aspirations for the constituency and how to achieve them.

NIGEL ROBERTS will co-operate and co-ordinate with but not capitulate to other interests in the process and will reach out to all parts of the world who have felt left by the US-centric nature on some of the processes.

ABOUT NIGEL ROBERTS

Nigel Roberts has been involved with the internet and its forerunner for many years. (His first email address had no dots in it!). He is 41, and speaks four languages. He has lived and worked in eight different countries and is very aware of other cultures.

NIGEL ROBERTS has been very active in the ICANN and IFWP processes attending meeting in Geneva, Boston, Berlin and later this month in Santiago.

He has played a part along with Antony van Couvering in obtaining recogition of the status of RFC-1591 by ICANN.

NIGEL ROBERTS is a respected professional (Chartered Engineer, and full Member of the British Computer Society) and set up the Channel Islands NIC (http://www.nic.gg) at the same time as Nominet was forming in the UK (in July/August 1996).

More recently he was involved in creating the British Overseas Internet Society.

NIGEL ROBERTS was chosen by one of the three major political parties in the UK to be one of their Parliamentary Spokesmen and subsequently fought a strong campaign as a candidate in the 1997 General Election to the House of Commons in the UK.
